Church Sanctuary Technology
A local church approached Digital Horizons with a clear goal: modernize their sanctuary with a high-quality projection system while preserving the simplicity of their worship space. The vaulted design of the sanctuary presented both aesthetic and technical challenges, but our team worked closely with church leaders to ensure the result would be both functional and visually appropriate for the space.
With existing conduit already run into the vaulted ceiling, we were able to take advantage of this infrastructure to extend audio and video signals to the newly installed projectors using HDBaseT extenders. This minimized disruption to the existing structure while maximizing the quality of the installation. We specified two 96-inch fixed-frame DaySnap projection screens for the front wall and selected laser light source projectors for instant startup, quiet operation, and long-term reliability.
The projection upgrade was paired with a critical update to the church’s audio system. We installed a new digital signal processor (DSP) that allowed microphones, instruments, and computer audio to be mixed, processed, and routed with greater control and clarity. While we retained the existing amplifiers and speakers in the sanctuary, the addition of the DSP significantly improved intelligibility and consistency for both spoken word and music.
Years after the sanctuary upgrade, they embarked on a major building addition that included a fellowship hall and several other gathering spaces. We expanded the audio system into these areas with ceiling-mounted speakers and wireless microphones. Because of the layout, we extended the microphone antennas 50 feet closer to their intended area of use, ensuring reliable signal reception. Updated touch panel programming allowed staff to choose which microphones played in which rooms with just a tap.
To solve acoustic issues in the first fellowship hall, we worked with the church to design and install custom broadband acoustic panels in various shapes and sizes. Rather than invest in a costly drop ceiling that would have offered limited improvement, our solution reduced reverberation effectively and affordably—transforming the sound quality of the space for community events and worship overflow.
The addition also included several 85-inch displays used for presentations, digital signage, or auxiliary content. Each TV was paired with a wall-mounted input jack and operated via RTI keypads—no remotes required. With a single button press, the TV powers on, selects the correct input, and is ready for use. From sanctuary worship to fellowship gatherings, Good Shepherd now enjoys a cohesive, easy-to-use system that supports their growing ministry with reliable and thoughtful technology integration.
