Hubbard County Board Room

In 2021, Digital Horizons was called to help update an existing system that wasn’t being serviced correctly and had a number of design deficiencies. Through discussion with county staff, a system was designed that would utilize as much of the existing equipment as possible to keep costs down, while adding necessary components to meet the needs of those who would use the system regularly.

The dais was outfitted with a series of ‘stations’ that included a dedicated monitor, microphone, and mini-cube speaker for individual sound reinforcement. A series of cameras throughout the room capture video of those on the dais, audience members, and those who may be seated at a presenters table.

A speaker system throughout the room provides sound reinforcement for those using microphones, the administrator or presenter computers, or remote participants in a meeting. All audio and video signals are routed through intelligent processing to facilitate hybrid meetings, allowing the board to hold a meeting that includes people in the room as well as those who might be remote. The mixed audio/video signals are sent to a local device for archival purposes as well to an online live stream feed, if desired.

Several LCD displays were installed in the room to show presentation content, meeting agendas, or video feeds from remote participants and through a sophisticated Crestron DigitialMedia system, these video signals are also made available on the dais monitors so that board members are able to easily follow the meeting.

A unique feature of this system was a ceiling mounted motorized microphone that was installed for use at a temporary podium – when needed the microphone is lowered out of the ceiling and when not, it’s raised up and out of sight. This eliminates the need for floor jacks for wired microphones and the need to manage and set up a microphone for each meeting.

The system is seamlessly set up and operated through the use of a 10” Crestron touch panel, outfitted with a custom interface tailored for this specific system.
